TIPS & TRICKS
Here is a summary of all the great tips and tricks from Kenneth and Nana, that you find in the tutorials.
Back to Redefine Ordinary HomeSHUTTER SPEED
Shutter speed is the length of time the sensor is exposed to light.
APERTURE
Aperture is a whole within a lens, through which light travels into the camera body.
ISO
A higher ISO number increases the sensitivity of your camera.
APERTURE
Use a smaller aperture to get more in focus and a larger aperture to get a blurry background.
SHUTTER SPEED
A fast shutter speed will freeze the motion while a slow shutter speed will show movement.
LONG EXPOSURE
For long exposure shots use the self-timer to avoid shakes.
DEPTH OF FIELD
Large aperture = Small f-number = Shallow depth of field
Small aperture = Larger f-number = Larger depth of field
LIGHTNING
Use as low ISO number as possible for best picture quality. Raise the ISO if you shoot in low light conditions.
FREEZE THE MOTION
Use slow shutter speed for motion feeling and shutter speed to freeze motion.
VANISHING POINT
Guide the viewers eye through the image to make it more interesting.
MACRO
Use a macro lens to get really close to your subject.
SYMMETRY
Look for symmetry in your motives to please the eye.
GRID DISPLAY
Use the grid display for an easier composition
NEGATIVE SPACE
The space that surrounds an object in an image.
PORTRAIT
Use a large aperture to make the person stand out against a blurry background.
CLOSE UPS
For macro shots use smallest lens aperture to gain image sharpness and depth of field.
LENSES
Change your view with different lenses.
Fast lenses, for example EF 50mm 1.8 STM are prefect for portraits.
Wide angle lenses are great for shooting landscapes and skylines.
AUTO FOCUS
Use the touch screen to select your focus
FRAME RATE
A good tip is to set shutter speed to double the frame rate (FPS) to get the most natural looking video footage.
STABILITY
Keep the camera close to your body to get more stability.
MOVEMENT
When filming fast movements set your camera to a higher frame rate to get less motion blur.
WIFI CONNECT
Use your available Wi-Fi hotspot to upload to cloud services and social media directly from your camera.
REMOTE SHUTTER
Use your phone as a remote shutter for your camera with the app Canon camera connect.
GPS
Add GPS data to your images and videos with your mobile and the free Canon camera connect. It helps you remember and organize your travels, whether you’re close to home or out on vacation visiting the world.
